Reply to Tensions of Two Worldviews

"How do you include nations in the global economy, when forces with communities are willing to utilize violence to defeat such efforts?" To this question about the current "War on Terror" there is no easy answer unless you take the extreme of each side, either you nuke these people wipe them out problem solved you don't have to deal with them anymore, or you could pull all the soldiers back, give up and come back and then not only do we look like cowards but then the terrorist will bring this war to American soil, also by pulling out it would make the deaths of all the soldiers that have passed away be in vain, because the job they where trying to accomplish was never completed.

So then what is the solution to this problem? Well I am no military expert or great philosopher, so I will not even pretend to try to say that I know the answer however I do have some suggestions. First of all lets look at this idea from an example, for instance think of if you where in a discussion with some one for instance if you where and evolutionist and I was a creationist where would we start to try to disprove each others theories, the answer is at the foundation of each theory which in this case is origins. So I believe the answer to this problem would lay in the foundations of the communities, a.k.a. Eastern thought versus Western thought.Because Islam was not accepted as Western thought until the mid 20th century, so most extremist hold on to their roots and backgrounds, and despise Western thought. So I do not think this battle can be won with just weapons, this is a war between cultures and philosophies too, and i think the only hope to stop these jihadist would be for the Islamic community to step up and condemn these extremist and their violence, because most Islamic people do not agree with their teachings, so if I where able to deal with this problem i would encourage the Islamic community to speak out against the jihadist, and speak out against those who support them.

Income Tax

In America, Americans have to pay income tax, but what exactly is income tax? How did the income tax originate? Who created the income tax? and why was it necessary to have an income tax? Income tax is a tax on the income of the people, businesses, and various other firms. Income tax on individual people are called Individual income taxes, while taxes on businesses are called corporate income taxes, both of these taxes are collected differently. For instance individual taxes are the individual tax on the total income of the individual, while corporate taxes tax the net income of the business.

Now that we know what Income tax is, how did it originate? The first proposal of income tax was during the War of 1812, this was the time when America was waging a very expensive war against Britain, to try to ease the national debt, the government put into action the first sales tax, this tax was put on gold, jewelry and other various objects. After the war, the taxes on these various goods was taken out.

It was not until 1861, during the time of the Civil War that not just the proposal, but the first personal income tax was put into action in order to help pay for the war, this took place on August 5, 1861, this tax was part of the Revenue Act of 1861. The tax started out at 3% on all net income above $600 a year, but by 1864, the income tax had increased to 5%, 7.5% and 10%, plus a penalty of 10%was put into place for those who did not file a tax return. From here on income tax would be thrown out and then reestablished again, it was not until 1895 that the income tax became a solid tax, never again to disappear although the type of tax did very from President to President and so on, but once the sixteenth amendment was ratified, and the Underwood Tariff Act of 1913 was put into action, the income tax was here to stay.

Now that we know what an income tax is, how it originated, why it originated and when it took affect, who is really responsible for development of the Income tax? Well since the idea of the income tax was shot down in 1812 and the real income tax was not put into action until 1861 during the time of the Civil war, the person who can be given credit for this tax is Abraham Lincoln although it was not just Abraham's idea, it was also his cabinet and other congressmen who joined in the passing of this tax, but Lincoln did give the final signature that made this tax effective.

In Conclusion income tax is a tax on the income of the people, businesses, and various other firms. Income tax on individual people are called Individual income taxes, while taxes on businesses are called corporate income taxes, both of these taxes are collected differently. The proposal for income tax first came about in 1812, but it was defeated, it was not until 1861 during the time of the Civil War that the first personal income tax was put into action in order to help pay for the war, this tax was part of the Revenue Act of 1861. The tax started out at 3% on all net income above $600 a year, but by 1864, the income tax had increased to 5%, 7.5% and 10%, plus a penalty of 10%was put into place for those who did not file a tax return. Europe Blog 2

When I got to Europe, what I was looking forward too is mainly seeing all the different historical battlefields and seeing other places of historical background. Also one thing that I was really looking forward too was seeing the Eiffel Tower in person, I remember as we where walking to the Eiffel Tower right after dinner, it was more spectacular than I had thought it would be. The monument was so tall, but one of the best memories I have from this trip is climbing the stairs of the Eiffel tower, at least the ones they let you, because once you get to the middle you have to take the elevator the rest of the way up, still climbing over 700 stairs was an accomplishment, at least to me. Other structures that I enjoyed seeing where the Tower of London, the Ann Frank House in Amsterdam, and the forest where the Battle of the Bulge took place. Other places that I enjoyed going to where Germany and Rouen, because these places where rich with historical background, and there was so much to just take in and so much to make us see how blessed we truly are that we did not have to go through some of the stuff that the people of these countries had to, for instances we did not have to go through concentration camps in Germany. Also i liked these places because they had some of the best food, especially Germany, I love German food it is the best especially the sausage hot dogs with the German mustard, it was heavenly I loved the German food so much i brought some home with me, which caused me some extra time going through customs, but i think it was worth it. So ultimately I was very excited to go to Europe, and these are some of the places that we visited and where some of my personal favorite places to visit, I would highly recommend going to Europe, for anyone who wants to know, it was so much fun, so in the end I had a great time.
